Filming at K
Well let’s get this blog thing started!!! Will try to give an accurate detail of what goes on at K on days off, late night, special events….
Yesterday I had the honor of assisting Chef Hari and Jenneffer Pulapaka of Cress Restaurant in Deland, on their quest to do a vegetarian cooking show. The pilot was filmed yesterday morning at K Restaurant. Let me tell you something about me….I am NOT a morning person! Probably the only reason I will never work in a restaurant that serves breakfast! (and the fact I hate cooking eggs!) So when I heard about an 8am call time………..great! After a full pot of coffee, I think I had enough “rush” in me to get the day started! The idea for the show is one I really like. A very casual, instructive show from a chef’s point of view. Most of it focusing on a relaxed conversation between chefs/friends while sampling a vegetarian creation that the guest chef created. Loved the fact that we were able to drink wine while filming at 9 am!!!! Coffee and wine….breakfast of champions! During the pilot episode, I created a dish consisting of “Creamy Polenta, Wild Mushroom Ratatouille, Green Onion Marmalade, and Fried Arugula”. As we sampled the dish, we discussed the fact that most restaurants have a poor selection when it comes to a vegetable plate. It should not be a plate of pathetic, steamed, whatever you can find in the reach-in “creation” but a plate of flavor, texture, and colors! Hopefully we helped Chef Hari and Jenneffer with a successful episode. It was a great pleasure to work with such good friends and the very talented crew of Eric Esteban and Jason Boldt. Good luck! Will keep you posted!!!
